The capital is received by the notarial office Cellard Notaires & Avocats on its account held at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (the French public deposits institution), separate from the firm's own accounts, then released to the company after incorporation. If the company is not incorporated, the funds are returned to the shareholders.
A notary is a public officer appointed by the French State — not a fintech or a payment institution. That is the legal security behind your deposit certificate.
Why the notary
Deposited directly by notaries — not a neo-bank.
You keep the bank of your choice. The capital is received on the office's account, then released to your company's account upon incorporation. No subscription, no commitment, no imposed account.

A certificate you can verify online.
Each deposit certificate carries a unique control code. Any bank or court registry can verify online that the deposit was indeed issued by the office, by entering this code in the “Verify” section.
For the bank
Before opening the company's account, the bank instantly confirms the certificate is authentic.
For the registry
At incorporation, the registry verifies the existence and date of the deposit, with no risk of forgery.
For you
A document whose authenticity anyone can check — the credibility of a notarial act.
Frequently asked questions
What you should know before depositing.
Which documents do I need?
ID, proof of address of the shareholder (residents), proof of the registered office address, and the draft articles of association. For non-residents: passport and foreign tax number (NIF). The KBIS and the company's bank details (RIB) are provided later, after incorporation.
Do I need a French bank account?
No. The funds are received by the notary on the office's account at the Caisse des Dépôts — you transfer from your existing account, in France or abroad. No French bank account is required to deposit the capital.
Does the 24-hour timeframe include weekends?
The certificate is issued within 24 business hours after the funds are received and the file is complete and compliant. We recommend an instant transfer to speed things up.
Why €500 for non-residents?
The flat €500 fee covers the enhanced due diligence required for a non-resident file: remote identity verification, international document checks (passport, NIF, apostille) and in-depth anti-money-laundering diligence on the source of funds. It is a fixed, all-inclusive fee — no percentage of the capital, no subscription.
What if my file is refused?
If the file is incomplete or non-compliant (notably for anti-money-laundering reasons), fees are refunded if no work has started; otherwise processing fees may apply (see the Terms).
When and to which account is the capital released?
The capital is transferred to the company's bank account after incorporation, upon presentation of the KBIS and the company's bank details.
What if the company is never incorporated?
After a six-month period from the deposit, each contributor may request the return of their contribution (art. L.223-8 of the Commercial Code for SARL/EURL, L.225-11 for SA/SAS/SASU).
Can a holding company be a shareholder?
Yes. A legal entity can be a shareholder: you then provide its registration extract, its beneficial owners and the signatory's powers.
Does the court registry (greffe) accept this certificate?
The deposit certificate issued by the notary serves as proof of capital deposit for incorporation. Its authenticity can be verified online via a code.
Do I have to come to the office?
No. The whole process is online, including remote identity verification.
Are cash contributions possible?
No. The capital is paid by bank transfer, for the traceability required by regulations (AML).
